About XOFTEX
The film XOFTEX sheds light on the lives of brothers Nasser and Yassin, who fled from Syria and are now waiting in the Xoftex camp for a decision on their asylum applications. To escape their bleak daily routine, they create and film comedy sketches. However, they feel increasingly trapped and slowly but surely lose hope for a better future. Based on real stories and shot with a cast of asylum seekers, the film draws attention to the injustices in the asylum system in an authentic way.
In ‘Xoftex’, director Noaz Deshe processes his own experiences in the Greek refugee camp of the same name, which is mainly inhabited by Syrian and Palestinian asylum seekers.
