Latest information:

In four rescues, our crew was able to save 297 people from distress at sea and bring them to the safe ports of La Spezia, Ravenna and Bari. One person had to be evacuated due to medical reasons.

    Spotted! Our crew spotted three of the boats in distress during lookout from aboard Humanity 1. For two of the boats an emergency call was received from Alarmphone.

    All boats were unseaworthy and without sufficient life-saving equipment or life jackets. Two of the boats were also overcrowded.

    Medical situation: The survivors were exhausted, dehydrated and some were mentally catatonic or injured. Some were seasick and suffered from uncontrolled vomiting, and one person had to be evacuated to hospital.

    As a port of safety the Italian authorities assigned La Spezia,  followed by Ravenna in northern Italy. For the final disembarkation of the survivors, the Italian Rescue Coordination Centre assigned Bari as a port of safety – around 1,100 km from the place of rescue.
