On 18.02.2025, the last trainings were completed. The crew prepared for upcoming rescues by carrying out RHIB training at sea during the day and at night, practising food distribution, medical measures and other scenarios such as mass casualties. Now our rescue ship Humanity 1 is on its way back to the area of operation.

Location: International waters, Libyan search and rescue zone, 123 kilometres off the Libyan coast

Condition of boat: unseaworthy, overcrowded rubber boat without life-saving equipment

Number of survivors: 43, 10 of them minors

Medical condition: Survivors suffered from mild hypothermia and dehydration. Several are in a weakened state.

Weather conditions: limited vision due to the rescue at night, light breeze, small waves

In the afternoon, the rescue ship Humanity 1 arrived at the port of Civitavecchia, Italy. At first, vulnerable groups, women and children could go ashore. After that, all the other survivors followed. At 05:30 pm the disembarkation was completed. Shortly afterwards our crew went back to the area of operation.

Location: International waters, Maltese search and rescue zone, 214 kilometres off the Libyan coast

Number of survivors: 71

Medical condition: Survivors suffered from mild hypothermia and dehydration. Several were in a weakened state. Some of them had injuries or fuel burns.

In the morning, the rescue ship Humanity 1 arrived at the port of Ravenna, Italy. At first, vulnerable groups, women, and children could go ashore. After that, all the other survivors followed. By 12:45 pm, the disembarkation was completed. At 18:00 pm, the Humanity 1 left the port again.
