Exhibition ‘Ready to Rescue’

On 31 March 2025, the photo exhibition ‘Ready to Rescue. On a rescue mission in the Mediterranean’ opens at Angermünde City Hall. Until the end of May, it provides moving insights into our search and rescue operations, highlights the inhumane situation in the Central Mediterranean, and shares human stories at close hand.

The photographs shown were taken between 2022 and 2024 on board our rescue ship, Humanity 1. The professional photographers were also part of the crew. Their proximity to the mission and to the survivors is reflected in their photographs: they are sensitive, respectful and moving – snapshots of humanity amidst a persistent and politically driven humanitarian crisis.

At the opening on 31 March 2025, Wasil Schauseil from SOS Humanity will be present and will speak about the current situation in the Central Mediterranean.

‘Nobody risks this dangerous flight across the Mediterranean without a reason.’

SOS Humanity realised the exhibition together with Seebrücke Uckermark, an initiative of people with the aim of improving the reception of refugees in the district and raising public awareness of the concerns of refugees. The Angermünde City Society and the City Council have supported SOS Humanity on several occasions in the past.
