Internal Rescue Report No. 26 – H1

Today, the survivors were able to disembark in Civitavecchia, and the crew is preparing to return to the area of operations shortly.

Today, the crew of Humanity 1 rescued 47 people in distress off the coast of Malta. Among them were many minors, including several unaccompanied children, as well as babies and toddlers. When we arrived, the dinghy was already losing air and had engine trouble. Civitavecchia was assigned as port of safety.

An emergency was reported to us via Alarm Phone: 45 people, including 10 women and 1 child, were on a small rubber dinghy and in urgent need of help. By the time we reached their last known location, the so-called Libyan coastguard had already illegally returned them to Libya.

Our large rescue ship Humanity 1 is back on sea and currently on its way from the port of Syracuse to the operational area off the Libyan coast.
