Internal Rescue Report No. 27 – H1

The ten remaining survivors from the rescue disembarked safely today at the designated port of Naples.

The crew of the Humanity 1 managed to rescue 12 people today. Among them were six women – and a baby just a few days old, whom the mother had given birth to without any medical assistance. They had been travelling for 20 hours from Abu Kammash in Libya in a tiny boat that was completely unsuitable for the open sea. The Italian authorities assigned us the port of Naples for disembarkation, a three-day journey of almost 800 kilometres. The same evening, our crew requested for the newborn and his mother to be evacuated, as they needed the medical care of a hospital.

Today, the Humanity 1 crew disembarked the six rescued people in Bari, Italy.

At around 04:15 the OoW on the bridge heard whistling and spotted a boat in the darkness coming close to H1 at 21kn speed. The boat had not appeared on the radar. It flashed a light, then left the scene, leaving 6 people in the water. At 04:30 we launched the RHIBs and were able to recover the 6 people. We then conducted a search pattern to ensure nobody else was left. We have  them on board and now going to Bari, which is named as PoS by authorities.

Our large rescue ship Humanity 1 is back on sea and currently on its way from the port of Syracuse to the operational area.
