Max Cavallari / SOS Humanity

Since our founding in Berlin in 2015, SOS Humanity has been active as a civilian search and rescue organisation to ensure that no one has to drown at sea and that everyone is treated with dignity. With our rescue ships Humanity 1 and Humanity 2 we operate in the central Mediterranean to rescue people in distress at sea, protect them and bring them to a place of safety.

For our operational crew we are looking for a Media Representative

The Media Representative is one of 15 roles within a 10-person crew and is therefore typically combined with another role or set of responsibilities.

The Media Representative is responsible for:

  • Audio-visual documentation of operations, from training through rescue to disembarkation
  • Ensuring compliance with policies on consent, safeguarding, and privacy
  • Producing content with sensitivity to power dynamics and avoiding harmful stereotypes
  • Selecting and editing photo and video material and handing it over to the Comms Lead
  • Supporting communications work depending on experience

Qualifications:

  • Experience in photography and/or videography
  • Basic editing skills
  • Experience working in sensitive environments
