Cook (Humanity 2)
Since our foundation in 2015 in Berlin, SOS Humanity has been active as a civil search and rescue organisation, working to ensure that no one on the move has to drown and that everyone is treated with dignity. With our rescue vessels Humanity 1 and Humanity 2, we operate in the Central Mediterranean to rescue and protect people in distress at sea and bring them to a place of safety.
For our maritime ship crew, we are looking for a Cook
The Cook is one of 15 roles within a 10-person crew and is therefore typically combined with another role or set of responsibilities. The Cook is responsible for:
- Planning provisions for a crew of 10 people for 4 weeks
- Creating a meal plan including two warm meals per day (one prepared by the Cook, one by crew members)
- Coordinating shopping with logisticians
- Managing storage of provisions
- Monitoring food supplies throughout the rotation
- Preparing and freezing meals for extended operations
- Preparing one balanced vegan meal per day, considering allergies
- Preparing a meal for up to 100 survivors on board if needed
Qualifications:
-
- Experience preparing vegan meals for 10–15 people
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work in the galley in rough sea conditions
