Skipper (Humanity 2)
Since our foundation in 2015 in Berlin, SOS Humanity has been active as a civil search and rescue organisation, working to ensure that no one on the move has to drown and that everyone is treated with dignity. With our rescue vessels Humanity 1 and Humanity 2, we operate in the Central Mediterranean to rescue and protect people in distress at sea and bring them to a place of safety.
For our maritime ship crew, we are looking for a Skipper
The Skipper is responsible for:
- Passageplanning, navigating and manoeuvring of the vessel
- the safety of the crew and the vessel, and as the legally responsible person on board has overriding authority
- Leading safety trainings and drills of the crew
- Communicating with port authorities and handling all relevant administrative and bureaucratic requirements
- Leading the crew as part of the HOM (Head of Mission) Team
Qualifications:
- Yachtmaster Offshore, German SSS, or national equivalent
- SRC licence
- STCW Basic Safety
- Valid medical fitness certificate
- SAR experience
- Extensive experience as a skipper
- Italian and Arabic desirable, but not required
